Max Brenner Invites You to Share YOUR Chocolate Love Stories!

As Max Brenner approaches our 20th Anniversary, we are taking a step back to reflect on all the chocolate magic that has transpired in our shops & restaurants around the world. From our first retail location in 1996, to our first Max Brenner Chocolate Bar in 2000, to our recent celebration of World Chocolate Day 2016, our mission to share our chocolate love story has always been the guiding light.

So, it only seemed natural when we received the following chocolate love story from a long time Max-o-holic, Bill, and his family. To start the celebration of our 20 year love story, we would love to share Bill’s chocolate love story.

Bill & Victoria’s Chocolate Love Story

You know the old idiom — every great relationship starts at Max Brenner. Of course you do.

One fateful night in late May, 2007, Bill Brazell & Victoria Brewer arranged to have their first date at Max Brenner, Union Square. Upon Bill’s arrival, Victoria greeted him smiling, and he noticed his lifelong favorite song playing on the stereo – Paul McCartney’s “Silly Love Songs.” A sign from chocolate cupid himself.

“Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs; and what’s wrong with that?”- Paul McCartney

Over Max Brenner’s original fondue for 2, Bill and Victoria hit it off, sharing stories about their love for chocolate. Chocolate held a special place in both their hearts, and things only got sweeter; in 5 months they were engaged.

Now happily married with three energetic, chocolate loving daughters, Bill & Victoria come back to our Union Square Max Brenner every year in late May to celebrate the delicious night that brought them together. Bill’s favorite is the Banana Hazelnut crepe, and Victoria is particularly partial to the Cookieshake. Their 2 oldest girls start by sharing the Mac & Cheese and finish in true Max Brenner fashion with a chocolate pizza. Their baby sister eats whatever comes her way, but given her genetic predisposition to chocolate, always wants more.

When asked about his favorite aspect of Max Brenner and why he comes back every year, Bill had these touching words to share:

“Chocolate makes people happy. I often stop in when I’m nearby to pick up a hot chocolate and a cookie, or a few caramelized nuts dipped in chocolate. Particularly during the winter, I’ll go out of my way to get that burst of joy. It’s not just the chocolate — it’s also the atmosphere. At Max Brenner, people smile. They’re there to have fun. The vats mixing white and dark ‘chocolate’ and the pipes carrying it overhead — the general decor — everything you see and smell conveys the message, ‘We take chocolate seriously, but not much else. Here you can relax.’ The wait staff is invariably friendly. It’s fun to come in, and we leave feeling happy. What more could one ask? ”

Do you have a chocolate love story like Bill and Victoria? Do you have a different kind of chocolate love story?
