Host a “Dessert for Dinner” Party

When you were six, the idea of dessert for dinner made you jump up and down. And now at (insert age here), dessert for dinner … still makes you jump up and down. Why not take advantage of this simple luxury of adulthood and treat your friends and family to a Dessert for Dinner Party? It’s easy, inexpensive and definitely enjoyable.

Our Chocolate Innovation Team loves this idea and came up with five must-dos for your next all-dessert dinner.

1) Sweeten up your space

We’re not talking about sprinkling gumdrops on the table, we’re suggesting that you create a space that is optimal for complete indulgence! Think comfortable chairs, candles, pristine white dishes … you get where we are going.

2) Serve three courses

Take a tip from traditional dinner parties and serve three courses to your guests.

Appetizer: Serve something simple but flavorful like a strawberry & cookie bruschetta.

Entrée: Why not whip up something reminiscent of a classic, like chocolate crepe pasta!

Dessert: Stick to a staple and pair cheesecake or tiramisu with a steaming cup of coffee.

3) Milk, and lots of it.

Nothing washes down a moist bite of chocolate cake better than cold milk. Get creative and premix batches with your favorite flavors – strawberry and chocolate – and serve in glass bottles just like the good ‘ol days.

4) Play a Game

There’s a pretty good chance (okay, 100% chance) that your guests will be on a sugar high after they consume three courses of your chocolaty confections. Help them burn off some energy before driving home by playing a game dedicated to desserts! Might we suggest the life-sized version of Candy Land? Google it.

5) Give ‘em something to take home!

9 out of 10 of your friends (there’s always that one …) will ask if they can bring something to your sweet soiree. Say yes! Encourage everyone to bring bite-sized treats that are easy to transport. Pre-purchase fun paper cartons and at the end of the party, everyone can take some treats to go!
